How do I take an FAA medical exam?
If you are aspiring to become an Air Transport Pilot (airline pilot) get a First Class Exam, otherwise you should get a Third Class Exam.

You can Google “Aviation Medical Examiners in your area.” They will typically run around $150 for an exam.

    * These publications are beginner bibles. Of course it’s a government institution so there are more bibles to download. These will give you a basic overview to help you begin your aviation journey.

  • I’ll need a copy of a form of government issued identification (Required by FAA): driver’s license, passport, etc.
  • It takes 3 – 5 weeks for your plastic Student Pilot card to arrive (the plus is there is no expiration on your Student Pilot card)

      • I can help you submit an FAA application to become a Student Pilot via phone, Zoom, etc.

      How to sign-up for an online ground school course?
      You have a variety of options. These typically cost between $250 – $300 dollars.

      It’s on-demand learning to suit your schedule and it costs less than going through ground training with a physical instructor (general average $35 – $75 per hour of ground instruction). At minimum you’ll probably need at least 20 hours but I’ve seen some schools quoting 30+ hours.

      The course will provide an official FAA endorsement that allows you to take the Private Pilot written exam.

      Here are some of the more well known private pilot written exam courses to consider:
      1) Gleim (various packages $300 max)
      2) Pilot Institute ($274)
      3) King Schools ($280 for written exam prep)
